Our Healthy Gardening takes place during the growing season (from April to October), once a week delivered by a gardener and every second week for four hours delivered by experts in gardening, health and environmental fields.
The Community Garden at Blissberry Social Farm is in association with Donegal Family Resource Centre and supported by Donegal Education Training Board to create a healthier community, environment which works towards self – sufficiency in our local area.
The course focuses on enjoying and respecting our natural surroundings, saving money by growing your own, and with the health benefits of gardening and eating locally produced food.
Lots of topics are covered including gardening through the growing season, green health, cooking demonstrations, food budgeting, composting and waste management, bee keeping, hen keeping and setting up sustainable enterprises.
The Healthy Gardening programme is open to people of all ages and from all walks of life.
