SoFAB, Blissberry Farm and Mental Health Reform

Attended a two day training programme with our SoFAB colleagues in Letterkenny on Friday and Saturday last.

One of the many professional presentations delivered was from Lara Kelly who works with Mental Health Reform. I learned with great interest that one of the many goals that this national coalition of organisations is for an Ireland where people with mental health difficulties can recover their wellbeing and live a full life in their community. Also they launched an eight week pre-budget campaign calling on the Government to “Do What Works” for mental health, by investing in measures that are known to be both effective and cost-effective for improving mental health. The petition, which runs until Budget Day on 15th October 2013, can be accessed via and will be sent to the Taoiseach, Minister for Finance, Minister for Health, Minister of State for Mental Health and Minister of State for Primary Care ahead of Budget Day.
