Country of the Mind . . .

This week end we are saddened to hear of the death of Seamus Heaney.

One of the greatest poets of our time. He had a strong appreciation for the natural landscape and brought the beauty of this landscape into the hearts and minds of so many people.

In his own words he described the area of his childhood as the Country of the Mind “a dream land that was once the real land, a shore at evening, quiet water, wind in the grass, the call of birds, maybe a man or woman out in a back field just standing looking, counting cattle, listening.”

He indeed was a remarkable gentleman, a true friend of nature, our countryside and the landscape.

Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with his family at this very very sad time.
